2 Color Dish/Washcloth Use cotton yarn (I'm using Peaches and Cream from Walmart) and size 7 needles. CO 40 stitches. Row 1: Change to second color. Slip the first st as if to purl. Knit next st. Repeat slip and knit across, having the yarn in front on the slip sts. The only tricky part is that first slip st. Just slip it as to purl, then take the yarn from front to back between the slipped st and the next st. Row 2: With same color, Knit across row. (Both yarns are now on the same side again.) Change to the first color. Repeat rows 1 and 2. Continue alternating 2 rows of each color until square. (Mine is about 9 inches square). Bind off. The cloth comes out bumpy and textured on one side and quite smooth on the other. It lies nice and flat. No rolling edges. I can see this as small coasters, or placemats, or even an afghan. Adjust number of stitches and needle size as needed. Just use an even number. I didn't invent the stitch, but in playing around with it, decided it would be a nice washcloth. Alice LewHolt@aol.com
