This is somewhat thinner than worsted weight, and more like double knitting weight. That being said, if you use worsted weight, it will probably be fine, and just come out a little larger. 1 50g skein of the above will do 2 facecloths. Size: finished size 23cm (9") needles: 4.5mm (u.s. #6, or preferred size Abbreviations: YO - Yarn Over SKPO - sl1, k1, psso PSSO - pass slip stitch over cast on 18 sts. (note, count stitches after 12th and 24th rows only) 1st & alt rows: knit 2nd row: [k1, yo] twice, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog, k 11, turn. 4th row: k1, yo, k3, [yo, k2tog] twice, k 9, turn 6th row: k1, yo, k5, [yo, k2 tog] twice, k7, turn 8th row: k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, yo, k2 tog, yo, k 8, turn 10th row: k2tog, yo, k3 tog, yo, k2 tog, yo, k8, turn, 12th row: k2tog, yo, k3 tog, yo, k8, turn 14th row:[k1, yo]twice, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog,k5 16th row:k1, yo, k3, [yo, k2tog] twice,k3 18th row:k1, yo, k5, [yo, k2 tog] twice,k1 20th row:k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, yo, k2 tog, yo,k2 22th row:k2tog, yo, k3 tog, yo, k2 tog, yo,k2 24th row:k2tog, yo, k3 tog, yo,k2 25th row: k 26th row: k to end. as you can see, you are knitting to one stitch less than in the previous row every time. these 26 rows form one "wedge". repeat 6 more times (7 wedges in total). Finishing: fold cloth with right sides together, cast on edge held behind the needle. Knit 1 loop from needle, one from cast on edge to form one stitch. cast off in the usual manner, knitting the cast on and cast off edges together as you do so. Sew in ends, and draw up centre of cloth. (c) Copyright 1997, S.
