Subject: Domino Dishcloth Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 16:24:45 -0400 From: Knitting Patterns Forum To: "Knitting Patterns Forum" Hello knitters, I made my 1st dishcloth with 81 sts. It's a bit too big - like 9x9. Next will be 71 sts. Cast on with 1 size larger needle, as that edge encompasses 2 of the 4 sides of the square, & mine was a little tight. (I will cast on with a 9 and knit the cloth with an 8 - American size, using Peaches & Cream) Domino Dishcloth Cast on 36, place a marker, cast on 35 more (for a total of 71) Row 1: (Wrong side) knit to the marker, REMOVE the marker, yarn forward, slip one stitch, yarn back, replace the marker, and finish knitting the row. Row 2: (Right side) knit to within 1 stitch before the marker, slip this st as to knit, remove the marker, slip next st as to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass the 2 slipped sts over the knit st. Replace the marker and finish knitting the row. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until you have only 1 stitch left - cut your yarn and pull it through the remaining st. (I liked this more decorative double decrease better than some I've seen - you experiment!) In trying to find a nicer edge, or one that might look more like the cast on edge, I used a yarn over and knit 2 together for the beginning of each row. It's okay, but maybe some of you out there, can come up with a nicer looking edge for the other 2 sides of the square. On our 2 1/2 hour journey, we stop for lunch at a quaint cafe in Weaverville NC and the big thrill of visiting Bovidae Sheep Farm in Mars Hill, NC (like we all need more yarn!). Happy knitting - have a beautiful day wherever you are, Susan Esser shesser@aol.com Knitting Page: http://members.aol.com/DNott97553/knit.html Home Page: http://members.aol.com/DNott97553/index.html List Archive: http://www.geocities.com/dnott.geo/knittingpatterns.html [Sponsored by:] _____________________________________________________________________________ Want FREE SkyMiles?
