I found one called an eyelet ribbon pattern that was rows of stockinette stitch with an easy garter stitch eyelet pattern. It looked strange though, curled at the edges and wasn't reversible - suddenly it dawned on me to rip it out and do it all in garter stitch instead. Here's the pattern I ended up with - it is easy and really pretty. I think I may also try it for a pillow. Materials: 1 (2.5 oz) skein of worsted weight Lily Sugar 'n Cream (I think this looks gorgeous in ecru), set of size 6 (US) needles Gauge: Unimportant but mine is 4 sts to 1-inch, 7 rows to 1-inch Cast on 41 stitches. Rows 1 through 4 - Knit Row 5 - *Knit 2 together, yarn over* - repeat between *s, end Knit 1 Row 6 - Knit Repeat this six row pattern 12 times. Knit 4 rows. Bind off. I prefer to make facecloths/dishcloths a little longer than wide because they stretch so much horizontally. GARTER STITCH LACE FACECLOTH And here is another pattern, more lacy and definitely fancier. Both of these facecloths actually have one side that looks slightly better but I consider them close to being reversible. I really prefer using size 6 needles for facecloths instead of 7 or 8 for a more tightly knitted fabric. For some reason although the patterns are similar, the garter stitch eyelet facecloth is mindless knitting but the garter stitch lacefacecloth is trickier. I hada tendency to keep losing one stitch and had to frog it twice. Materials: 1 skein (2.5 oz) Lily's Sugar 'n Cream, worsted weight, size 6 US needles Gauge (over garter stitch): 4 sts and 7 rows to 1 inch. Cast on 42 stitches. Rows 1-6: Knit Row 7: K1, *YO, K2tog*, repeat between *s, end K1 Row 8: K1, *YO, P2tog*, repeat between *s, end K1. Row 9: Repeat Row 7 Row 10: Repeat Row 8 Repeat this 10 row pattern six times. K 6 rows. Bind off. I hope all of you enjoy these! Happy early Easter!
