Slipper Pattern From: Diane Nott (dnott@prodigy.net) Date: 1:15 PM 10/15/98 Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn Number 6 standard knitting needles, or size fit to gauge ( I used a size 8 needles) Tapestry needle Gauge: 5 stitches = 1 inch, 8 rows = 1 inch Cast on 52 stitches. Row 1: Knit Row 2: Knit 7, Purl 1, Knit 35, Purl 1, Knit 7 Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until you have 20 ridges (40 rows) Bind off 8 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows (36 stitches) **Continue in pattern until you have a total of 30 ridges (60 rows)** **This is what I used for the foot instead of the above notation: Knit 1, Purl 1 ribbing for the foot until you have a total of 60 rows or until desired length.** To shape foot: (I sometimes don't use this part. Try to keep in foot pattern) Row 61: *K2, K2 together, repeat from * to end of row - (27 stitches) Row 62-64: Knit Row 65: *Knit 1, Knit 2 together, repeat from* to end of row - (18 stitches) Rows 66-68: Knit Row 69: *K2 tigether, repeat from * to end of row - (9 stitches) Row 70: Knit Fasten off, leaving a 18-inch length of yarn. Draw yarn through the 9 stitches left on the needle, gather, and use remaining length to sew top of slipper together, sew back seam.If desired, crochet edging in the same or contrasting color and add crocheted chain-stitch bow, and/ or pom-poms. Note: This is a basic pattern and can be easily adapted to fit your needs by adding or subtracting rows, and keeping the stitches the same. You can also use a double yarn to make them quicker, just remember to check your gauge and adjust accordingly.
