FRUGAL KNITTING HAUS FREE PATTERN "SQUARES" SLIPPERS Sizes: (Finished bottom length of slipper) Toddler (1-3 yrs.) .............. 6 1/2" Children (4-8 yrs.) .............. 8" Womens or Older Children .. 9 1/2" Mens ................................... 11" Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn, in scraps of any colors or about 3 (3 1/2)(4 1/2)(4 1/2) oz. 1 pair #8 needles. Gauge: 5 Sts. and 9 Rows = 1 Inch Note: Slipper is made in individual squares, placed according to diagram and sewn in place. Each square is 2 1/4" (2 3/4")(3 1/4")(3 3/4"). Directions: Make 7 squares as follows for each slipper: Cast on 12 (14)(17)(20) sts. Work in garter st. (K each row) until square is 2 1/4" (2 3/4")(3 1/4")(3 3/4") long. Bind off. When squares are completed, lay out and follow diagram for sewing. Suggestions: * Lightweight, packable for suitcase and tote bags. * Make colored squares by bags full, label each bag per size, then near holidays, sew squares together for quick gifts. Diagram: #2 & #3 are back heel sides of slippers. #1 & #6 are bottom sole. #4 & #5 are front sides. Following diagram, sew squares flat at stitch marks. Now sew back heel seams A & B together.
